the best, totally professional

Not "the best" by a long shot, but isn't terrible. This gallery is the opposite of professional, but you could do a lot worse.

I would tend to agree with the first comment, Petzel has a really professional reputation. 12:18, would you have concrete examples of "staffers run screaming after a few months"?, and what is the opposite of professional in your view? People have worked there for years and the gallery has pretty interesting artists with really good careers. If you look what the gallery has done for the artists, that's a pretty good job right there, plus all the top art fairs, which helps and major European museum connections. If you have good behind-the-scenes examples, we'd all love to hear. Also, he's opening gallery in Berlin with Gisela Capitain at a fantastic historic East Berlin building. Not too shabby for "unprofessional".

"Staffers run screaming after a few months?" I have a friend who has worked there for years because it is a great work environment.

Maybe you know someone who was just not a good fit for some reason.

Petzel is one of the original B.S.-ers.
the fact that he has quite a few great artists--guyton, brannon, morris---is shocking considering that he should be selling shoes somewhere.

Please elaborate on the definition of "Original BS-ers" as it applies to Petzel. Not sure how the second statement - that he represents several great artists - has anything to do with shoes. I would gladly purchase lovely shoes from Mr. Petzel should he ever decide to fulfill your personal fantasy to peddle footwear. However, the scattered connection between BS-er, great artists and shoes is not an argument nor is it gossip. It amounts to little, in fact. It is a reflection of the fantasy life you choose for Mr. P.
