a friend shows there. has good things to say about them. a bit off the beaten path though. some people say that's a good thing but it does limit exposure to the public.

A bit off the beaten path? Maccarone, Gavin Brown and Kate Werble are all in that neighborhood.

Smart, intuitive and very professional. A pleasure to work with and to hang out with. Beautiful space to boot!

Ok gallery, owners have long history in art world but feel no shame in paying very VERY low salaries (even for the art world)- no health insurance offered. To quote "it's just $1000 a year out of your pocket." Tsk Tsk.

I'd like to respond to the Anonymous post from May 14th. I worked for Michael and Jessie at Harris Lieberman for three years, after having worked with Michael at Lombard-Freid for three years when he was director there - I think this makes me qualified to respond to that poster's comments.

Harris Lieberman is a young gallery with a sophisticated vision and an incredibly interesting program of artists. Michael and Jessie have a lot of experience in the art world and I think they're doing an amazing job. For a young gallery, they absolutely offer competitive wages, including health insurance. Perhaps "Anonymous" should rely on firsthand experience instead of spreading rumors on blogs. Tsk tsk yourself.

Lovely gallery, very much enlivened art fairs (I worked at another gallery in mostly same fairs). In private, great sense of humour - Michael does a surprisingly good impersonation of Owkui Enwezor.

In my experience (and in listening to the experiences of several artists in the Painting Show pop-up), this gallery tends to make the simplest of conversations contentious. They will overrule the artist's opinions and deal brashly with colleagues for no real reason or gain.
