What is there to say . . .

How about this.

Any dealer that would take on Kenny Price, at the recommendation of Brice and Ellworth, of course, is OK with me.

Back in the 90's, remember him being snide and imperious towards artists' hardworking young assistants. Rich boy, contemptuous of "the help".

This probably doesn't qualify as a real "purchase" from somewhere like this, but a couple years ago at the Inez Van Lamsweerde show they were selling posters and I bought one - the girl at the desk couldn't figure out how to do the old-school manual credit card thing with the carbon paper and the big block you have to roll over it. MM happened to be standing right there and stepped in and did it for her. So I guess I have bought work from Matthew Marks! Nice enough, I honestly have had more attentive salesman before, but I guess I would be a return shopper.

I obtained Ellsworth Kelly photos from the estate of a deceased employee of Kelly's. After a long wait , an employee of Matthew Marks emailed me saying that the works were not Kellys. I have been collecting supporting evidence that they are.

I used to work there- it was a pretty unpleasant and paranoid evironment. Matthew is a diva and often screeches at people if they cant accomodate his unreasonable demands. The gallery has a history of firing people just because they decided they dont like them- it has nothing to do with one's competence or how long theyve been there.
