Once the trust fund ran out, David Zwirner started picking up the check.
Never heard that about Zwirner supporting Michelle, has anyone else? What I've heard very often is that she doesn't pay anyone - not her artists, not her employees, not her creditors.
I think Ivan Wirth is her new trust fund, hence the Paul McCarthy show (that and sleeping with Paul's son for a while)
Let's have a blog where we just talk about who is sleeping with who.

Really smart though.
Zwirner funds her, as does Iwan Wirth. And no, she pays NO ONE. Worked there for a year and got paid on time once. Plus she's emotionally unstable and impossible to work with. BEWARE.

Half or more of the new smiley face works will have been made by her and her front desk guy for the new show. Shes betting big that they will sell.

I have wittnessed Michele travel out to Greenpoint Brooklyn from the west village, on her janky bike no less, to visit an opening of one of her art handler's art shows. In fact, Michele goes out of her way to support most of the projects that her employees do on the side.
And I have witnessed her treat employees and artists like dirt. She should let them run the show, maybe would bring some life into an otherwise failing program.
That gallery isn't interesting anymore, hasn't been since she moved out of chinatown. And all the critics I talk to agree.

Word up to that! Maccarone is the shit! I've worked with those "art handler" gallerists (yeah those ones in greenpoint) and Maccarone has not only visited their gallery regularly but even done studio visits with their artists. The Otto Meuhl who was the best show of this millenium! So what if her money is/was a Camorra trust fund!? Why should illegitimate backing be a neg?

Michele is the shit. Worked with her for over two years....it was the most entertaining and satisfying experience evr. Her program is so far from uninteresting. Just look at her upcoming shows...hubbard, craven, tuazon, cmon..she's just getting started. Wish she would still stop by RFA tho.
I hear that she's in talks to do a reality show on Bravo, not "Work of Art", her own show. Make of this what you will. I can't tell if it's evidence of her savvy business sense, or the contrary.
I would watch that show.
When I worked at Maccaron there was a general air of depression... no one could pay their own bills but was expected to show up for work...
... at least once a week Olav Westfallen would fax her a bill for how much she owed him and she would actually laugh when she saw it...
Nate Lowman would call frequently because the electricity in his studio was being turned off, meanwhile she was financing her new space with his sales...
... a collector was threatening legal action because he never got a work that he paid for...
the list goes on and on!
...only after I threatened legal action did I get a portion of the money she owed me...
meanwhile, she claimed that she "only flies business class"...
she uses her frequent flyer miles to upgrade, she does not pay for her Business Class seats.
I'm a curator who's worked with Michele on a number of occasions. She makes jokes about and denigrates her artists. My advice to any artist working with her: Plan your fantasy show, no cost spared. Let her pay for production. Make a splash. Go with another gallery who will treat you with respect.
she's got her skeletons in the closet for sure....actually runs a pretty legit business now. program is still interesting, the artists still with her are mostly happy. no dealer is perfect. this website is such a waste of time.

Treated me like rubbish. I was offered works and then told, when I agreed to purchase, that they had been sold to somebody else. Then my calls and e-mails were ignored for months on end. Hopeless
