Once commented that when you "see a lot of artists at an opening you know somthing is happening"

Too bad you so rarely see HER at openings.

I heard she's incredibly hard to work with.

That wasn't my experience at all. Smart and tough but fair.

notoriously difficult to work with... phony beyond belief, and as self-serving as they come.

She curates a lot of shows featuring Gavin Brown's artists, where her husband is represented.

totally hardnosed and small-minded. Years ago, at the Rob Pruitt Flea Market..she threw a loud fit at the placement of her table (with her loving husband Verne). And loudly objected to there being porn on another table.
Of course, she was moved. It was like watching an elderly, cranky, unartistic person request a better table at a restaurant. Pathethically self-entitled. What does she add to the art world, really?

Yes, I used to work with Laura, and her lack of professionalism is pretty remarkable. Like a toddler hypnotist that convinces those with money that she knows that she is talking about. The "Ultimates" concept for the Carnegie International? Really?
