Ben and Risa are incredible.
I did a show with Ben and Risa. They were absolutely reliable and helpful through every stage of preparing the show, from designing the postcards and ad, to helping me pound in the last nail. Their energy (and reminders) overpowered my dilatory ways, and their efficacy has saved me from prostitution. :)
They are very enthusiastic and supportive. Not necessarilly the best place to show if you want to make much money, but that's due to their young careers and evolving experience, not them refusing to mail checks. Their hearts are in the right places and they're both really genuine people. Let's hope it lasts!
Ben & Risa are two of the most forward-thinking, honorable, intelligent and reliable dealers I've ever worked with.
I had a sort of crappy experience with them. I don't want to talk shit because they ARE nice, friendly, and caring - in person. They work with art that would never have a chance to get shown otherwise. From my short observation they treated a fabricator for one of their artists that came in, and their interns better then 90% of other galleries. But once you leave the physical space, they are extremely flaky, and def prioritize communication and commitments based on pre-existing social connections. I ultimately decided not to hold the situation against them personally, but it was kind of crappy nevertheless.
