Kathleen is a wonderful woman who has helped me critically and financially in the past. Her check arrived within a month!

i was paid, but she lied about who bought my painting. then when i asked about it, i never received a response to who ACTUALLY bought it.

I have worked with her on a sale before and it took over 6 months to get paid.

Sometimes she paid on time, other times it took her 3-6 months to pay, and that was for collectors I sent to the gallery! I even had the double-whammy of having those late payments bounce! Not good karma.

Kathleen is the hardest working woman in the art world. She is also a clandestine teacher of the 'way' of the art world. Artists are secondary my fellows. Clients are primary. So check your Ego dreams at the door, do what you love to do and realise the money will come eventually. First lesson in the art world: don't bank on bank.

PS I was upset when a Pediatrist bought one of my pieces under the name Yoko Ono. But The fact is my sculpture appealed to the doctor. Yoko Ono or not, she bought it.
If you are particular about who buys your work, I suggest you deal it yourself.

@carpetstain Are you posting a comment about Kathleen's performance as an art dealer, or are you here to talk about your personal philosophy on selling art?

I have worked with Kathleen as her assistant for almost a year in 2011 and there is not one single negative aspect about my experience with her. She is a incredibly generous, strong woman who has hlped me find my way into significant art circles and a stable job, and I can assure you this was not priviledged treatment: she gives her heart and soul to her artists and collaborators never asking for anything in return. I cannot help but think that comments about her paying late etc. (by the way the same comments appear for ALL major galleries on this website) are fabrications of the blogger to attract attention by the art world and force itself onto the radar, as covered in artfagcity's article here: http://www.artfagcity.com/2012/07/25/hows-my-dealing-makes-an-enemy/
Among innumerable other lessons, the most important value I've learned from Kathleen is that kindness and fariness are the number 1 most successful way to run an honest business. I would wish for anyone to have the luck to work with her.

Kathleen has been such a wonderful help to me throughout my professional career and personally moving to NYC. I worked first as an intern, then Director of the gallery and now I continue to work with her as the website developer and hopefully will be curating a show with her in conjunction with my master's program this spring.

She has an amazing eye and talent for recognizing artists and is such a committed and hard worker. Above all, she has a wonderful heart. She would do anything for you once you become friends.

Kathleen has been a friend and a mentor for me since 2006. I started as an intern at her gallery and ended up working as Director. Now I develop and manage her website and will hopefully be curating a show at her gallery in conjunction with my master's program this coming spring. She is an expert on the NYC art world and is so helpful and sweet. I couldn't have survived my time in NY without her support. Professionally she is hard working and extremely knowledgeable and personally she has a huge heart.
