Fantastic writer! Known for championing the "belles lettres" style of art criticism.

Absolutely -- this man is in a class of his own. He is no theorist, but his engagement is deep, and his prose style is stunning.

After Hickey, my favorite critic. Speaks to the spirit of art - making it and experiencing it.

during my time at the dia museum i gave schjeldahl lots of insider info, especially the works by jorge pardo that were unfinished yet had to be displayed anyway. of course none of that ever made it into print; the man knows how to tow the company line.

He's a wonderful writer. I heard from Dave Hickey during a dinner at Kenny Price's 3 or 4 years ago that Schjeldahl said he would write anything you want for $10 a word.
