Zieher showed some enthusiasm in my work, asked for images, wanted to come buy for a studio visit. And then came the stall stall stall, lack of response to emails, blah blah blah, etc. Disappointing. Finally, I let the issue drop because I don't want to be the desperate artist who flogs to death a slim chance at representation.
I've returned Zieher's lack of interest by ignoring his gallery and programming ever since. Sour grapes on my part? You bet. I am sure this is no loss for him but he has lost a potential fan of his gallery and artists. I absolutely understand that a gallerist may show some interest in your work and then decide you're not right for their roster. But a quick "Thanks but no thanks" will save a lot of ambiguity and potential hard feelings. Frankly, it's unprofessional as he approached me for a studio visit and not the other way round.
As far as dealing with artists/payments/etc. I've got no knowledge of anything negative. (Or positive.)

They're moving to the LES. Not dead!
They are two of the best dealers I know in the city and they are NOT closing. In fact they are moving into a better space.
About as interesting as a slice of white bread; if they showed not interest in your work it is because its too complex for them. There shows often look like something of a parody, without the irony. One notch above Rare, but that is not saying much.
ZieherSmith is GREAT...... Scott and Andrea are awesome....and the roster is cool....I LOVE at least five of the artists there .......looking forward to seeing the new space.
I've worked with Scott and Andrea
a few times and they were always super cool....payed swiftly and were super supportive......the ideal situation really......love them....and they've had some really beautiful shows...cool line up....I have heard my sentiments echoed from other artists who've worked with them.
