Caren can be a bit frazzled at times, but has always paid me within a short period after a sale. She is extremely hard working, and I've never had even a whiff of dishonesty. The artists are all over the map, but it's a good place to be.
I was in a group show at the gallery years ago and had a major personality clash with Caren. She was fine as far as payment, etc. and the show was well-reviewed but I did not like working with her and only visit the gallery if there's a show I really want to see. I have heard several former employees talk a lot of trash about her after leaving the gallery -- apparently she's stingy and mean-spirited. I don't think she deserves an "O".
there's no trash to talk after working for Caren. She comes through with everything she promises. She values, deeply, what it means to represent and commit to an artist.
group show artist didn't vibe with her, but Caren isn't trying to charm you up, or throw money at you to get you signed. there's no illusions. she's transparent. if you like her, she'll tell you what she can do for you and come through on it. if your work sells, you get paid immediately b/c she didn't spend you cut. that's not stingy, that's a responsible dealer.
Caren's former director helped me out a few years back by taking some works of mine to Miami and keeping them in her gallery for a while, showing them to collectors. They were very honest about not really wanting to represent me, but I still appreciated what she did at the time to try to get some of my work seen.
very sad that she has closed but it should be noted that this was not because of financial problems but a personal decision - let's hope she is back soon

She's a sweetheart and has kept that place going for years.
If you like her, she just might be a great dealer for you.
Street level Chelsea.
You could do worse.

Caren is a colleague and wonderful to work with.

APPARENTLY, THE GALLERY WILL BE GOING "PRIVATE" AFTER THE NEXT EXHIBITION.

This woman is a lunatic and there's no surprise she closed. Her treatment of her staff was terrible and she had no clue how to run a business.
