One of the longest (if not the longest) running fairs in the world. Once considered the top international fair, recent years have seen poor management and some ill timed shifts in the dates deteriorate it's standing. Still, loyalty from a hot German art scene could put this one back on top. News in the last two editions has been and improvement.
Very old school. I was there in 2006 when the fair was still held in November and I can tell you the Bavarians are not very responsive with contemporary stuff. Plus a lot of shops in town would do not take credit cards! Aaaaaaah
Dan Hug has been in charge the last 2 years, which is why it's getting better. Still too many art fairs and this one will be unlikely to return to it's former glory unless Fiac, Frieze and Art Basel all start to bomb.
Rat Fink searching for Scuz Finks, Gold Finks.

FYI Cologne is not in the region of Bavaria.
