Joe is a good, aggressive dealer who works very hard to promote Pierogi...but Pierogi is his mission, always. His artists are flags on the castle of Pierogi. this is good if your are emerging and bad if you are succeeding. he pays on time and will bring great traffic into your studio.
Pierogi rocks. I'm not one of their represented artists, but they have sold work of mine. Just having work there is a good thing, they get lots of collectors coming through.
nicely put about the flags and the castles.Joe went to artschool with Fred Tommaselli at Cal State Fullerton (Yeah State!)Is an artist and basically understands this business. Yes Pierogi is THE project, the ART project.Get your shit together and be more like Joe.(But this does not mean you have to get all "Manhattany" about it and ultimately wind up deeply in debt and on the verge of colapse. Also learn to be cool, like Snoopy "Joe Cool.")
Joe is a nice guy. I have several works of mine in the Flat File. I've had some curators, critics, and collectors take a look over the years, but have still not sold any of those works. Describing him "aggressive" is a bit of an overstatement. Not speaking of Pierogi...specifically, I would prefer aggressiveness from gallerists as opposed to indifference.
anonymous feb 2......you can't blame the dealer (joe) for your work not selling.....the work must primarily sell ITSELF through the gallery...joe was aggressive for me and sold all my work, i moved on to a 'bigger' gallery and am eternally grateful to Joe for his hard work...i don't blame him for my failures or give him all the credit for my success......joe IS aggressive because he hustles to get into the good art fairs and maintains many important relationships with museums and collectors from all over the world...THESE THINGS MATTER! he cannot make you a great artist but he can help ypu become one if you really want too.
