What do you need to know?
The second gallery to open in Soho.
Betty C. was first (I think) above Fanelli's
bob nickas says who gets into this gallery and controls it all. strange. no women or at least no new women at all, younger male painters all get in because of being friends with nickas. thats not to say they are bad artists, but cant they find one woman?
Zoe Leonard, Meg Webster, Jackie Winsor and Jennifer Bartlett, Yayoi Kusama and Sherrie Levine all show there. They're women. And while I've never met Jo Baer, I believe the artist is a female.
Class act all the way. And dare I saw the only one in the art world.
Other than marian goodman, only dealer who isn't obsessed with themself.
Steve Henry, her longtime director, is an absolute saint. Between him and Paula they are probably the two most sane people in Chelsea.
