They are good people, but they weren't selling work. limited merger with B&W, more like one of the 31G gallerists is partnering with B&W. most of their artists are without representation now, though 2-3 will get tryouts with B&W.
As one of the artists from 31 Grand.. I would like to agree, mostly, with anon 6:47pm .. I wouldn't call it a merger in fairness to the artists that are now looking for representation...
I would hate for these artists to be overlooked due to the assumption they have a home with Black & White.
I'd also like to state I had a great run with 31 Grand .. they worked hard at creating a family style operation .. that I've now learned isn't the norm..
I also believe this isn't the true end of 31 grand..
They did not pay at least one of the artists who sold work in a group show 6 months before they closed. The artist was initially told the buyer was paying in installments, and the gallery would retain the piece until the last payment was made. Soon after, the client emailed the artist saying how much he loved his piece. The gallery closed. The artist never got the remaining $2000 owed.

rumor is that they're closing.
That's a bummer. Nice people and space.

They are merging with Black and White Gallery. I'm not aware of any artists being dropped.
